Sonya Winner Studio is based in London and is the creative outcome of designer Sonya Winner’s fascination with geometrical forms and vibrant color. By applying a decisive artistic element in rug design Sonya creates beautiful contemporary carpets that become the focal point in any modern interior.

The studio consists of the designer herself and her small creative team. Every year they work together on a number of new designs, in addition to their signature limited edition series. The new rug models are exhibited every September at the London Design Festival and every spring in New York.

Sonya Winner Studio creates exceptional rugs best known for their original graphic designs, their bold color and their exceptional quality. The designer’s first piece was named Kaleidoscope and caused a sensation when it first went on sale. Despite being her first attempt, it was promptly shortlisted for an Elle Decoration award! Kaleidoscope quickly became the favorite piece of discerning buyers, interior decorators, stylists and celebrities internationally.

The designer has been nominated for the Homes & Gardens Award, The German Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the “Top Pick” Award at the architectural Digest show in New York in 2013 by the American Society of Interior Decorators. “I’m fascinated by exploring the design possibilities of knotting and tufting with wool. There are so many ways to create original pieces working with juxtapositioning colours, texture, pile height, weaving techniques, yarn type and the overall shape of the design – it’s a very exciting medium” Says Sonya.

Sonya’s iconic rugs are made from pure New Zealand wool and showcase her rare talent for color blending. Her design process involves layering colors and textures. Therefore the rugs are handmade which means the processes involved in manufacturing the carpet are done manually. This adds another layer of beauty to the final product and also means each piece is never identical to another. All rugs are manufactured under strict ethical production standards. All facilities where the rugs are produced are members of Goodweave who work to end child labor in the carpet industry and to offer educational opportunities to children in South Asia.
