Born in 1984, Jean-Baptiste Fastrez lives and works in Paris. In 2010, he graduated from Ensci/ Les Ateliers de Paris with honors. He then worked for three years as assistant of Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. With his projects “Variations upon an electric kettle” and “Tomahawks hair dryer”, he won the 2011 Grand Prix du Jury of Design Parade 6 in Villa Noailles (Hyères, France) under the leadership of Stephan Diez.
Since 2011, he has established is own design studio in Paris. He works on different projects of product and space design in limited and industrial édition. His partener are the Danish textil manufacturer Kvadrat, the Galerie Lafayettes in Paris, Sèvres / Cité de la céramique, the glass research center Cirva in Marseille, the French brand Moustache and the London and Paris based design gallery Galerie kreo.
His work has been presented in various thematic exhibitions and some of his works are included of the permanent collection of the Villa Noailles in Hyeres, the Cnap and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
