Designed by Konstantin Grcic for Italian brand Magis Chair One with Concrete Base is an iconic piece of furniture with distinctive sculptural form.
Fabulous, original and striking are just a few words to describe the beautiful and timeless design. Through a minimalist industrial style, Chair One with Concrete Base is statuesque, elegant and hard to forget.
The chair consists of two pieces. A clear coat concrete base combines with a die-cast and powder coated aluminum seat. This is an extremely versatile chair suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Konstantin Grcic once said in an interview: "Something has to happen between objects and humans". It seems as if he had said this as a guiding principle when designed the now all-time classic Chair One, back in 2003. The skeletal-like and sculptural-looking chair is reminiscent of a teaching subject from geometry lessons.
Chair One is by no means a mere avant-garde piece of furniture. The chair is an interaction of material, design and industrial production. It is rust-proof and fire-retardant and therefore predestined for fire-sensitive zones and for outdoor use.
Grcic used die cast aluminium for the first time on the entire seat surface additionally treating it with sputtered fluoridated titanium and painting it in polyester powder.
