Whetstone 1000/6000 Grit by Edge of Belgravia is a high quality double-sided grinding stone ensures effective sharpening results, and keeps your kitchen knives razor-sharp, making cutting effortless.
The coarse side with 1000 grain can sharpen the edge, so the edge will reflect the light well; the fine side with 6000 grain is ideal for finishing and polishing edges, and perfect for light touches to an edge that is already sharp.
1000 / 6000 Grit is suitable for most knives, such as kitchen knives, kitchen scissors, pocket knives, Shun Chef knives, sporting knives, straight razor blades – to sharpen cutting class knives, precision tools, gardening tools and artist tools, but not suited for serrated blades and ceramic knives.
It comes with a non-slip silicone base that keeps the sharpening stone securely in place, so you never have to worry about the stone falling off the worktop.
Grit 1000: Standard - For regular sharpening / maintenance of edge.
Grit 6000- Super Fine grain - For polishing until the knife becomes razor sharp.
Care and proper use of a high-quality knife is always essential to maintain the best cutting edge and to insure the highest possible degree of safety when using. After all, a dull knife is a dangerous knife. The more pressure required to cut with a knife the greater chance of an accident occurring while it is being used.
Ideally, the knife should be sharpened daily (for professional cooks) or about every six months (for hobby cooks), and by the same person each time or with the help of a ‘sharping guide‘. Each person has an individual angle at which he or she sharpens the knife.
GENERAL WHETSTONES GUIDELINES
200 - 240 - Coarse grain - For pregrinding of dull knives or smaller repairs.
800 - 2000 - Standard grain- For regular sharpening / maintenance of edge.
3000 - 4000 - Fine grain - For perfect sharpness, for use after the 1000.
6000 - 12000 - Super Fine grain - For polishing until the knife becomes razor sharp, for use after the 3000.
